Shepherd Hut update:

ree

Communication has taken place this afternoon between the land agent representing the Tollemache family (Peckforton Estate), and councillor Perry from Burwardsley parish council. In the update provided by the land agent, the project size and scope was explained. Two Shepherd huts have been positioned, they will not be placing anymore in the area. They are being managed and sited by a company called:

Apparently, this company is the only one in the UK that seems to have ascertained a planning loophole exists in certification to the local authority, this essentially means they do not need planning permission to site these Shepherd huts. (The parish council will be further exploring the legality on this point.)

The land agent made it very clear, the Tollemache family is keen to work with the local community and is happy to provide clarity on any matter of concern. These two Shepherd huts will be managed via unyoked in hiring out to guests. Local people have already been engaged re cleaning / providing ongoing supplies for guests. The land agent also pointed out, unyoked is very particular about the areas it places its huts, i.e. they need to be very sympathetic to the natural surroundings and basically fade into the scenery, the agent stressed the Tollemache family have no intention of creating a large pod / shepherd hut type project in the area.

The parish council will be discussing the above in more detail at the next parish meeting. Clearly, the above is of concern and will possibly raise more questions than answers from people in the parish on the subject thus, we are hoping further information from the company in question will be available in readiness for the next parish meeting whereby next steps should we take any, be discussed in further detail.

Councillor Perry made it very clear to the land agent, the community will have grave concerns over the possible precedent this type of project (albeit small in scale) will establish and further, the doors it may open to the area being further exploited.

Many points of concern to be discussed, we look forward to seeing everyone at the next parish meeting.

Thanks,

Burwardsley Parish Council.
